Desk/Dressing Table War

Ok let’s face it, the worst thing about being a student is the lack of space! Well, maybe the worst thing is being skint all the time... But anyway, trying to cram all of your things which you “really do need” in that one tiny room is a nightmare! The funny thing is, is what most students allocate the least space for - books and other university essentials. Pretty ironic I’d say, as time at university without these essentials would be pretty pointless! However, if you’re someone who’s a little bit obsessed with anything that’s beauty or fashion related, you’ll understand that making space for your clothes and make-up is definitely a PRIORITY! The thing that i know most girls struggle with is finding a balance between having a desk and a dressing table, so I thought I’d share some of my organisational tips J My room is pretty standard, a single bed, a chest of drawers, a desk and a wardrobe. I have however, FINALLY managed to find the much needed balance.

  •           On your desk, I would recommend keeping your laptop, a mirror, make-up brushes, perfumes, and any other cute little decorative things if you wish. This will keep your space looking tidy and clean, as well as always having some of the essentials you need to do your make up with ready to use. If the desk is needed to read a book or do some homework on, the laptop can be removed and that leaves plenty of space!

  •          It is handy to keep your everyday make-up in the top drawer. This provides you easy access and keeps the mess hidden J Just divide your make-up into little departments like lips, eyes, etc., to stay as organised as possible.

  •          When it comes to hair and body products, they don’t necessarily need to be in the same area with your make-up. A good idea is to use the top drawer of your chest of drawers for those products. Because hair and body products are reached for a lot, keeping them in the top drawer means they will be easily accessible, and once again, will not look messy, as that is the last thing you want – a lot of clutter and mess, as that will make your already small room look even smaller. Just like with make-up, separate your products into little departments using little boxes, or anything that works for you really.
  •           Glass jars can be used to store cotton buds and pads, and are an easy and cheap way to decorate. They could be placed at the top of the chest of drawers for decoration together with a candle, and is also a convenient place to store them, as the rest of the body/face products such as toner is in the drawer.
  •           As for the books, they can be stored in the other two desk drawers and in the drawers of a wardrobe, and if none available, simply at the bottom of the wardrobe, or neatly under the bed.

I hope this post has been helpful in some ways, and inspired you to go and organise your room in the most tidiest and efficient way possible! J

Cool tips!

I have some pretty cool and useful beauty related tips that i thought i would share with you guys, because knowing these come pretty handy to me! Hope you like them! :)
  • sort cashmere and silk in black tissue paper. Moths don't do black apparently!
  • sew discreet underarm patches into the linings of your blazer to absorb sweat and keep the area clean. Can be purchased at Boots
  • a soft toothbrush and regular washing-up liquid is the best way to keep your precious metals and diamonds sparkling
  • make gym clothes last longer - never add fabric softener to the wash, stops the bit that manages the sweat from working properly
  • to rescue malodorous trainers, wrap in a plastic bag and leave in a freezer overnight
  • use a baby shampoo to wash delicate lingerie

Galeries Lafayette

So i was cleaning out my closet earlier today, and came across one of my used up bottles of perfume. Now you might think, why on earth do you keep empty bottles you crazy girl?! Well firstly, i tend to keep pretty, beauty related things like this, and secondly, this brings back a lot of great memories!
Two summers back, i was very lucky to visit the most romantic place on earth - PARIS! Oh i do hope i get to go back there one day! I always thought movies exaggerated how amazing it is, but it was just magical!
I had never had a Chanel perfume before then, and thought it was the perfect opportunity to invest in one!
'Galeries Lafayette' - one of the biggest and most gorgeous shopping malls was where my first Chanel perfume purchase took place. I could not resist the smell! It was created by Jacques Polge, who is a French perfumer.
Just like all of the Chanel editions, the main ingredients used to make this scent were jasmine absolute and may rose absolute. Sicilian oranges, Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian grapefruit were also incorporated, as well as pure rose extract and pure jasmine extract, with a fruity touch of litchi, to create a floral heart.
Apply it to pulse points, and the scent will really last throughout the day and evening!
The original bottle for this perfume is different, but this is just as gorgeous and elegant. It is THE perfect gift for a someone who prefers luxury and elegance! Just like me :P
Cannot wait to repurchase this!

Products i've used up!

Here are some of the products i've used up lately, and would like to share my opinion about them! Please bear in mind this is my personal opinion, and you might not be interested in some, or all for that matter of the products that i am reviewing, but if you are, then please read on! :)

John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner Mask

I have used quite a few John Frieda products, and most of them i love! However, i was slightly disappointed in this one. It claims to restore + strengthen your hair, repairing the look and feel of overstyled hair. I used it together with the full repair full body shampoo as recommended, however, it did not do much for me at all. I have pretty thin and damaged hair from straightening it every day, and after using the entire bottle, saw no improvement or any difference at all! The formula is very runny, and after applying it to my hair, most of it slides off and ends up down the drain! After stepping out the shower and blow drying my hair, it feels very corse and dry, as if i didn't apply any conditioner at all.
Personally, i wouldn't recommend it, however, it might work differently on different hair type, therefore      by all means, feel free to try it out! :)

Charles Worthington Front Row Refresh and Revive Dry Shampoo

First of all, the packaging. The pretty green colour was what caught my attention. After you peel the limited edition sticker off, it has a very pretty green flowery pattern, which definitely draws your attention.
Ok, now let's talk about the product itself. One word - amazing! This baby is a life saver! Dry shampoo is one of the products i absolutely swear by. It is great for second day hair, or if your hair's looking a bit on the greasier side and you have not time to wash it! This dry shampoo really makes your hair look like it's just been washed, giving it some texture and volume. Some dry shampoos can make your hair very inflexible and corse looking, but not this one! This really does the trick and smells nice too!

Batiste Dry Shampoo - Medium and Brunette

I have read a lot of good reviews about this product, and after finishing my Charles Worthington dry shampoo, i though i'd give this one a try! And i'm glad i did! What i like the most about it is that it matches my hair colour. I still slightly prefer the Charles Worthington one, however, this is a great cheaper dupe!

Soap & Glory Mini Hand Food Hand Cream

Soap & Glory.. This brand is known for their very cute packaging, as well as products delivering what they actually claim to do. First time i saw their range, i wasn't really too keen on it, just thought it'll be another range of average products. However, hearing all the amazing reviews, thought i would give it a go. And i wasn't disappointed! Hand food is one of their key products - and i can see why! It contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow (yes, marshmallow!!), which really does smooth and sooth dry, chapped skin, making it amazingly soft! It even helped my very dry cuticles. And the best thing is - it does all this without being greasy! What's not to love?
Do i agree it is the most astonishing hand cream ever as it claims to be? Yes i do!

Benefit The POREfessional PRO Balm Primer

I have heard such amazing things about this product, so i was very happy to receive a sample size of it withy my ELLEuk magazine subscription. I love the fact it isn't silicone based, which can make your skin look greasy, especially if you have oily skin like me! This primer has a brown tint to it, a very light consistency, and glides onto your skin amazingly, evening out your skin and reducing the appearance of your pores. Because i have oily skin, my makes up tends to slide off throughout the day, therefore a primer is a must for me! This really does the trick, making my make up stay on all day long. Will definitely be repurchasing the full sized product.

Beautiful Brows Eyebrow Kit

I am so grateful to have come across this amazing, life saving product! I, personally believe every girl should take really good care of her brows. They shape your face, making a huge difference! I cannot leave my house without doing my brows (i know, a little bit obsessed! haha ). I was at a clothes show about 2 years ago when i came across this brow kit. I did not use it for a very long time after purchasing it, but once i did, it became an everyday essential!
It came with an eyebrow powder, 3 stencils - sleek, natural and bold (have recently lost the sleek one though, boo! :( ), and also with a duo applicator brush. Which i have also lost. Have got to stop losing things! :(
Although a lot of people do not like using stencils for their brows as they feel that they will not fit their eyebrow shape, with these, i'm sure you could choose one out of the 3 that would match your eyebrows!
However, if you really are against using stencils, purchasing the powder alone is still a great investment!  One of my biggest regrets is having started plucking my eyebrows way too soon, which has left me with quite a thin line. Using this powder though, you cam make your eyebrows look as thick as you want them to, without them looking too unnatural. Which is just amazing!
I will be repurchasing this product for a very long time!

Garnier Invisible B&W & Colours Anti-Perspirant

There is nothing more annoying than spraying yourself with an anti-perspirant, walking out the door, and realising you've got white marks all over your clothes! Had it happen to me so many times, and it is just grrrr...so frustrating! This one however, leaves no white marks or no yellow stains, just as it claims!  Contains no alcohol and no parabens.
I have used a few of Garnier anti-perspirants, and none of them have let me down yet!

I hope you enjoyed this quick product review, and i will see you at my next post!
